Twenty Mule Team Wagon #1

For five years in the mid 1880’s William T Coleman operated the Harmony Borax Works in Death Valley. When in full operation it produced three tons of borax daily. During the hot summer month the processing operations moved to a cooler area in California. A blessing the the forty men working there. The end product was shipped out of the valley 165 miles to the Mojave railhead. The borax was hauled in ten ton capacity wagons pulled by teams of 18 mules and two horses each. The round trip required about 30 days to complete.
