Temporary Cave
Winter has its icy grip on nature. If you look closely at the frozen tundra you can see some marvelous imagery. Taking a trip to a place you should not venture you can see proof that not everything is frozen.
Take a trip with me down the stairway at Minnehaha Falls in Minneapolis, Minnesota on a warm January day. There is no snow removal on the stairs so you will need to slide down. Once at the bottom you will need to climb over the fence and journey back uphill a little. Be careful it is icy.
Along the rim groundwater has seeped out and dripped down forming small icicles. Over the few weeks of winter these small icicles grouped together and reached the ground forming a wall of ice. From behind the ice you can see the natural color of the water and clearly hear the waterfall that is just ahead.
The journey out is not so easy. You need to get back down the icy embankment without sliding into the open creek. After this you need to climb up ice and snow covered stairs. The trip back up takes better than 20 minutes but the journey is worth the effort.
