Nerstrand  Big Woods State Park is located 11 miles southeast of Northfield, Minnesota. A short hike will lead you to Hidden Falls on Prairie Creek. The limestone here is a rich brown color. The low levels of the creek promotes the growth of moss coating the rocks with their green color. When you look closely at the falls you can find a portion of the rock that is not covered with moss. The rocks below the falls are covered in moss providing a frame for this section. The thin veil of the waterfall looks almost like a sheet of glass. Like a cover in front of a fireplace.
