The hot desert sun shines down from a deep blue sky. You brave the hot sun and explore the desert landscape. It is early October and the air temperature is in the upper 70’s. A little water and an afternoon of exporting is safe and fairly comfortable. The rough and rugged landscape is made up of red sandstone, limestone, shale, and other conglomerates shaped by 150 million years of erosion and uplifting. The results are spectacular and range from colorful layered hills and rocks, red mountains, and unusual red rock formations. During your exportation of Valley of Fire State Park in southern Nevada you may find three cabins built by the CCC’s. Nestled at the base of a mountain the views out their windows are truly amazing.
